Number of Thai tourists to Hue rises sharply

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has promoted tourism and trade with the Thailand’s northeastern provinces and important places such as Bangkok and Pattaya to attract more Thai people to visit Hue.

According to statistics from the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Thai arrivals in Hue rose from 17,000 in 2005 to 113,000 in 2010.

In the first eight months of 2011, more than 77,000 Thai tourists visited Hue, up 26% compared to same period last year.

In late August, over 100 delegates from travel agencies in both countries gathered in Hue to take part in exchanges to learn about the area’s tourism potential, culture, history, and local specialties.

By the end of August, Thua Thien-Hue province’s tourism industry has earned VND682 billion and received 1.1 million visitors to Hue, including foreign tourists, up 6.7% against the same period in 2010. (Source: VOV)
